The short version: TaskBracket is local by default. An account is optional and is used only if you choose Premium web access and sync. No ads and no selling data.
Without Premium Sync, tasks you add — by voice or by typing — are stored only on your device. If you explicitly create an account and enable Premium Sync, your task text, completion state, ranking, and task dates are encrypted in transit and stored in Google Cloud Firestore so they can appear on your signed-in devices and the TaskBracket web app. Using the Share button hands text to the iOS share sheet under your control.
If you create an account, Firebase Authentication stores your email address and authentication records. TaskBracket stores your subscription access status and synced task data under your account identifier. Access is limited by authentication and database security rules. You can stop syncing by signing out, or permanently delete the account and its synced cloud data from the Premium Sync screen. Local tasks already on your iPhone remain available.
The voice brain dump uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed entirely on your iPhone; recordings and transcripts are not sent to us or to any third party by TaskBracket. The microphone is only active while you're on the brain dump screen with the mic switched on. You can use the app fully without granting these permissions by typing tasks instead.
TaskBracket collects anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase — for example, how often the app is opened and which features get used (voice capture, tournaments, sharing). This never includes your task text, voice audio, or transcripts. Analytics are tied to a random device identifier, not to you, and are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. This website uses Google Analytics with cookies for the same anonymous purpose.
Voice recordings never leave your device, and task data is not uploaded unless you opt into Premium Sync. TaskBracket has no advertising SDKs and never sells personal data.
The app offers optional tip-jar purchases handled entirely by Apple's in-app purchase system. Payment is processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; TaskBracket never sees or stores your payment details. If you leave a tip, the app records an anonymous analytics event noting only which tip size was purchased.
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple. TaskBracket receives signed transaction and subscription-status information needed to grant web and sync access, but does not receive your payment-card details.
TaskBracket is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly create cloud accounts for them.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date above.
